Our Journey
While working as a homeschool tutor in Bomet, I was approached by many parents who were, for a variety of reasons, dissatisfied by mainstream schooling. They were looking for a more learner-centered, personalized, hands-on approach to learning that would make school a fun and memorable experience for their children while maintaining high standards for learning and learner - behaviour. They were also looking for schooling options that would complement rather than contradict the Christian values that their children were being taught at home. Since I could not add more pupils to my class, I began looking for tutors who could work with these families and replicate what I was doing with my students. Word spread quickly and soon after hiring our first tutor, other parents from remote Kenya started sending inquiries and asking for homeschooling support. This became the birth of Laurel Homeschools.

How Do We Support You?
Whether your schedule leaves little room to keep regular tabs on your child's homeschooling journey, or you need an extra pair of hands in your homeschool, our model will fully support and take care of your unique needs by making sure that your children are taught by skilled, passionate, tutors who believe in creating an impact for life. Our tutors are meticulously hand-picked, vetted and trained in the best practices for teaching and nurturing the children that are entrusted to us. We would be honoured and delighted to co-author your children's educational story and be a part of your family's success!
Certified Teachers with Experience
All our tutors are fully certified teachers and must demonstrate an enduring passion for educating young learners. To keep them updated with the latest educational practices, our home and online tutors all take part in periodic training workshops that address current teaching methods and trends. This dedication to professional growth ensures top-notch instruction, customized to meet each learner's unique needs. Additionally, all our tutors must have at least one year of post-graduation experience as schoolteachers or homeschool teachers. They must also demonstrate a proven record of success and discipline.
Micro-classrooms
for Quality
All our homeschools maintain have a maximum of 3 learners per teacher while our online classes are fully personalized by undertaking a one-on-one approach. This micro-learning environment ensures that the learner's needs are sufficiently addressed and special focus is given to both the learner's unique strengths and weaknesses.
Practical Learning Methods
Our teaching methods move away from traditional rote learning and drilling to a thoroughly practical approach. Learners are taught to master concrete concepts through in-depth engagement with content.
Flexible Online School
Since our online school program is fully personalized, it offers flexibility with time. School can take place in the morning, afternoon or evening, subject to your family's unique set up and needs. Furthermore, you have the freedom to choose your holiday months without having to worry about universal opening and closing dates.
Adherence to Syllabus
While freelance homeschooling may sometimes deviate from syllabus requirements, we boast of a strict adherence to the syllabus. This ensures that learners are in sync with their grade/year levels at all times.
Support Material and Resources
While parents provide textbooks and most of the learning materials, we provide well-researched, quality support material from other online sources to ensure that our learners engage with a wide variety of learning material. These include e-books, worksheets and access to reputable educational sites and GCP Books.
We are the leading virtual preparatory school and group of homeschools, offering quality personalized instruction for primary education at home and online. We follow The British International Curriculum (Early Years - Year 6) and The Kenyan Competency Based Education (PP1 - Grade 6)

Strong Foundations
While working with post-primary school students, most teachers realize that many students land in junior secondary schools with significant gaps in knowledge. This inevitably sets them up on a steep learning curve that often proves to be challenging and discouraging. Sadly, this has become a common phenomenon that can only be mitigated by ensuring that learners are well grounded in their elementary studies. Laurel Homeschools exist to ensure that learners have a strong grasp of all their subject areas with a focus on all the six Language skills, Mathematical & Numerical Fluency, Scientific Observation and Logic. We take maximum advantage of the first 6 - 8 years of learning to make sure that your child receives as much support and time as they need to attain competence in each subject area.

Not Just Paper and Pen
We pride ourselves in how we incorporate an experiential, sensory-driven approach that steers clear of rote learning and memorisation but rather insists on creating decodable and relatable learning activities that reinforce understanding and knowledge rentention. We insist on creative lesson planning by our tutors and follow up on how these plans are executed on a daily basis.
